Pico Cuadro Vendimia Seleccionada, 2020, Ribera del Duero, Spain
Hedonistic is the only way to describe this wine. This old-vine Tempranillo is richly spiced, has great ageing potential and is made next door to where the great Dane Peter Sisseck creates his cult wine Pingus, by a winemaker who learnt his trade at none other than Vega Sicilia. Now that's some CV. \n \nFounder and winemaker Felipe Castrillo Martin started making his wines in a temporary garage on his parent's front garden in 2005 in the village of Quintanilla de On̩simo, 30m from Pingus, Spain's most expensive wine. Despite only producing 8,800 bottles, his first vintage was met with huge critical acclaim. With help from Swedish and Spanish investors, he has managed to gather over 25 tiny plots of old vine Tempranillo and build a proper winery on his parent's front lawn.
