After Pete Seghesio sold his family winery in the early 2000’s, he began making small volumes of exceptional quality Sonoma Chardonnay as part of his ‘Journeyman’ project.

Harvested at their peak in the middle of the night, the grapes were then pressed as the sun rises. Native yeasts were used for fermentation, with between 30 and 40% of the wine fermented in a concrete egg at around 55 degrees. As in barrel, the wine spent more than a year on lees for complexity and texture. After the wine was aged in barrel for 12 months, the blend was kept in a stainless steel tank for three months before being bottled, unfined and unfiltered.Aromas of stone fruit pulp, citrus, tropical hibiscus and honeysuckle. On the palate there is a vibrant minerality, intertwined with creaminess from extended lees contact in both barrel and concrete egg.
